Abstract

587,627. Aerials; radio receivers. JACKSON, D., and PYE, Ltd. Sept. 9, 1944, No. 17245. [Class 40 (v)] In a short-wave reception system in which signals received at an aerial are amplified before being passed over a down-lead. to a receiver, a built-in aerial and amplifier structure is provided comprising a water-proof casing 10 fixed at 12 to a support and supporting a rod aerial 15 coupled to an amplifier 17, 18 housed within the casing. The casing 10 consists of a pair of dome-shaped metal covers 13, one on either side of a pair of plates 11, or a single plate. The casing 10 also houses a power pack 19, 20. The rod aerial 15, in the form of a dipole; is secured by rubber grommets 14 and air insulator 16. The down-lead comprises a sheathed cable 21 which may also serve as a power supply line, isolating condensers being provided at each end (Fig. 2, not shown).
