Abstract

495,391. Oil engines. SEILIGER, M. May 11, 1937, No. 13433. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] An injector 4.delivers several jets of fuel into a combustion chamber 8 which is in open communication with the cylinder. The jets remain out of contact with the walls of the chamber which may be bellshaped and disposed at one side of the cylinder axis. Each cylinder may have two combustion chambers, one 9, being inclined to the cylinder axis and having a deflector 10 which guides the air entering the chamber, whilst the other 8 has' a rounded edge 16. In Fig. 6, the cylinder head contains a spring-pressed piston 11 which may carry a deflector. During the compression stroke the piston rises and during the working stroke the air beneath the piston is forced towards the products issuing from the chamber 8. The piston also acts as a safety valve to relieve excessive pressure in the cylinder. Specification 243,820, [Class 7 (iii)], is referred to.
