Abstract
494,644. Cathode-ray tubes. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. Feb. 22,1938, No. 5585. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] In order to secure the cathode in its correct position with respect to the control electrode and the remainder of the electrode system a closed tubular cathode with emissive substance on its end is rigidly secured in a cylindrical body which fits closely into a hollow cylinder and closes one end thereof, the other end being covered by a perforated diaphragm forming the control electrode ; the hollow cylinder is rigidly mounted in the electrode system. Fig. 1 shows a cathode 2 fitting into a flared opening into an insulating cylinder 1, which fits closely in a metal cylinder 12 mounted in discs 13 secured to the supporting rods 9 of the electrode system. The control electrode consists of a disc 6, formed with a flange fitting into a groove in the cylinder 1, and provided with a lug 8 welded to one of the discs 13 ; or the electrode may be fixed to the cylinder 12. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which the cylinder 1 is of metal of low heat conductivity and is seated by a flange 16 on a cylinder 18 welded to a disc 17 forming the control electrode, the cathode 2 being mounted on an insulated tube 15 secured to the cylinder 1.
