Abstract
625,401. X-ray tubes. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. July 31, 1947, No. 20798. Convention date, June 27, 1940. [Class 39 (i)] The cathode 15 of a high voltage X-ray tube is provided with an apertured shield 20 to prevent it being bombarded by positive ions. The cathode may be a circular filament of diameter greater than the diameter of the aperture 22 in the shield 20. The shield 20 may be disposed in a cylindrical focusing cup 17 having a mushroom head, the cup being connected to the cathode. The anode may be hollow and may be provided with an intake conduit 23 for the circulation of a cooling medium.
