Abstract

491,630. Valves. ROTADISK APPARATEBAU-GES. Oct. 25, 1937, No. 29130. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a pipe coupling having a spring-actuated valve in each pipe end, one of the valves being arranged to surround its seat, each valve is held off its seat when the pipes are coupled by the member carrying the seat of the other valve. The spigot 1 has an extension 12 carrying a tubular valve member 17 which is held by a spring 18 on a conical seat 15. A ring 24 secured in the socket has a seat 25 for the valve 26 and a packing ring 23 against which bears a shoulder of valve 17. As the spigot is pushed in by the coupling nut 5 the valve 17 is retained by the ring 24, the extension 12 carrying its seat 15 advances, raising the valve 26. When the valve 26 is open its seating surface and the seat 15 are in alignment. The valve 26 is guided by a ported tubular extension 27. A ball valve may replace the valve 26.
