Abstract

632,025. Pipe couplings. EDWARDS BROS. (TIPPERS), Ltd.. EDGE, J. R., and COSGROVE, J. Jan. 14, 1948, No. 1143. [Class 99(i)] A pipe coupling particularly for lines conveying liquid under pressure comprises a plug member 5 housing a slidable spring loaded valve member 7 with ports 73 and a bevelled face 72 seating against an aperture 53 through which the fluted shank 71 extends and a socket 6, which is a sliding fit on plug 5, housing a spring loaded ball 9 seating in the constriction 62. The plug 5 carries a rotatable coupling nut 11 which when screwed on the socket 6, axially aligns the whole and causes the valve-member and ball to press each other off their respective seatings and permit fluid to flow.
