Abstract

968,522. Pipe couplings. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Jan. 6, 1961 [Jan. 22, 1960], No. 2368/60. Heading F2G. [Also in Division H1] A self-locating pipe coupling for sackmounted apparatus comprises a pair of complementary coupling members 2, 6 in the form of a spigot 22 having an external taper 23 and a socket 9 flared at its outer end at 10, the bores of the spigot and socket being respectively provided with valve seats 28, 13 and valve elements 26, 12 being applied against their respective seat by spring pressure assisted by fluid pressure (if any), abutment means 25, 15 being provided for opening both valves when the spigot is inserted in the socket. The spigot is sealed in the socket by a flat gasket 20 and valve 26 is adapted to open before the valve 12.
