Abstract

1,164,126. Pipe couplings. MINISTER OF TECHNOLOGY, LONDON. 16 Dec., 1966 [28 Oct., 1965], No.45708/65. Heading F2G. A coupling device for connection with the end of a pipe includes a body member 10 having an internal fluid passageway 13, a captive nut 19 rotatably mounted on the body member and at least two threaded members 15c which extend axially from one end of the body to form a castellated threaded cylindrical extension, a coupling being made by bringing two such devices axially towards each other so that the threaded castellations of one device pass between and beyond corresponding castellations of the other device to overlap the body member and engage with the nut of the other device, the nuts then being tightened to bring the two body members into contact with each other and to provide a continuous fluid passageway through the coupling. As shown, each member has an annular wall 17 containing a seal 18 and includes a valve 21 normally seated by a spring 20 on a face 22 the valves coacting and being moved to the open positions thereof when the coupling is made.
