Abstract

859,598. Pipe couplings. MILLARD, A. W., and DRALLIM INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 6, 1959 [Feb. 7, 1958], No. 4044/58. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXV] A resilient, non-metallic sealing ring 6 is housed and positively retained in an internal recess 7 of a nut-like member 3 internally screw-threaded for co-operation with the external screw-thread on a union 1 having a bore adapted to receive freely a pipe 2. The nut is formed with a flange 4 to receive the pipe, and to compress the ring against the end of the union to deform the ring into engagement with the pipe. The ring 6 may be circular or rectangular in cross-section. As shown, to prevent relative rotation between the nuts 3, the latter are embraced by the flat portions of a spring locking ring 8, axial displacement of the ring being prevented by a tag 9 located between the nuts.
