Abstract

1,118,379. Furniture joints. FRANKE & CO. K.G. 7 Oct., 1966 [4 June, 1966; 20 July, 1966], No. 44946/66. Heading A4H. [Also in Division F2] A fastening for two parts 4 and 5 of a piece of furniture, comprises a bolt 1 threaded at both ends and adapted to be screwed into a socket 2 located in one part and a nut 3 located in a housing (6), Fig. 2 not shown, in the other part. The housing 6 is generally cylindrical with a recess (61) to locate the nut and a bore (62), in alignment with a bore 52 in the part 5, through which the bolt passes. A face (63) is disposed around the bore (62) for the nut to bear on when tightened. The nut is split at 31 to allow it to expand to accept the bolt, but grip tightly when forced against the face (63). The nut stands proud of the recess (61) and has splits 33 in order that it may be screwed up, and a bore 32 for final tightening by a tool. Recesses (64) and (65), Fig. 3 not shown, in the housing permit a cover to be fitted over the housing 6. In a further embodiment the nut 3 is not split, and the end 12 is of similar thread to the end 11.
