Abstract

1,231,918. Femoral fixation device. FEINMECHANIK A.G. fur. 9 April, 1969 [7 May, 1968], No. 18208/69. Heading A5R. A femoral fixation device comprises a plate 1 curved at one end 11, with a slot 12, through which passes a connecting screw 5 which screws into the head 7 of a pin (6). The pin has a radially serrated frusto-conical head 7 which fits into a radially serrated depression 17 surrounding a hole 16 in an intermediate plate 4. The other face of the plate 4 is curved so as to fit against the curve of the plate 1, and both these adjoining faces have transverse serrations, 15 and 13 respectively. A washer 3 fits between the other curved surface of the plate 1 and the head of the screw 5. When screwed together, the pin (6) and plate 1 remain immovable in relation to each other. In an alternate embodiment, Fig. 4, (not shown) the serrations are on the other side of the plate 1, the face of plate 4 being smooth, and the curved face of washer 3 has a transverse serration to engage those on plate 1.
