Abstract

1297234 Pipe stopper RACIBORSKA FABRYKA KOTLOW 21 Sept 1971 [21 Sept 1970] 43846/71 Heading F2P A pipe stopper comprises an outer sleeve 1 the inside bore of which tapers outwardly from the leading edge, an inner sleeve 2, having an external conical face for location in the sleeve 1 and slidable therein, a locking element 4 adapted to abut against the inner sleeve and urge it towards the leading end of the outer sleeve; the arrangement being such that when the stopper is located over the end of a pipe, the inner sleeve can be forced against the outer surface of the pipe and the inner surface of the outer sleeve to lock the stopper on the pipe, sealing means 5 being provided to locate between the locking element 4 and the pipe. In the arrangement shown a locking screw 7 is used to exert axial force on the element 4 and the sleeve 2 has teeth to engage the pipe, In other embodiments the element 4 is screwed into the sleeve 1. The element 4 may be provided with a vent plug (10) (Fig. 3, not shown).
