Abstract
1,065,325. Hose end fittings. BTR. INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 25, 1964 [Oct. 15, 1963], No. 40730/63. Heading F2G. A hose end fitting comprises inner and outer sleeves engaging between them the end portion of a hose wherein a resilient spring acts between the sleeves to prevent axial separating movement thereof, the spring engaging one face of an abutment projecting from one sleeve, the other face being tapered. As shown, the hose 12 having an outer layer 15 removed at the end thereof is held between a tapered inner sleeve 10 and an outer sleeve 11 having projections 17 serving to engage the hose. A circlip housed in either a groove 20 in the outer sleeve (Fig. 1) or a groove in the inner sleeve (Fig. 5, not shown) engages a groove in the corresponding sleeve. In Fig. 1 the inner sleeve contains two grooves 23 having a tapered face on the side away from the hose to allow the circlip to slide out of the groove if the inner sleeve is pressed into the hose to tighten the fitting. An access hole 21 in the outer sleeve receives the ends of the circlips so that a tool may be slid into a gap (30) between the ends to release the engagement of the couplings. The second embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) has a similar arrangement with the circlip situated in a groove in the inner sleeve.
