Abstract

914,495. Valves. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. March 14, 1961 [April 14, 1960], No. 13488/60. Class 135. The fluid entering the inlet 6 of a valve body 3 is divided into equal flows at outlets 13, 14 by a plunger-type movable valve member 1 and is directed to opposite ends of the valve member by a valve 19 operable to change the flow from either outlet to one or the other end of the valve member. Fluid flows from the inlet 6 to two outlets 13, 14 by way of peripheral grooves 15, 16 in the valve member 1, the spaces 4, 5 at the ends of which are, respectively, connected to the grooves 16, 15. When fluid flows from the outlets to the inlet, however, the connections between the spaces and grooves are interchanged by the valve 19 which is pushed to the left by a spring 20 when the pressure in bore 18 falls due to the connection of inlet 6 to exhaust. The valve member 1 thus regulates the two flows whether they are entering or leaving the valve.
