Abstract

866,724. Valves. POWER-GAS CORPORATION. Sept. 24, 1958 [Oct. 4, 1957], No. 31091/57. Class 135. A valve comprises a conical valve seat 24 carried by an elastic member 25 detachably fastened to the valve casing and forming part of an inlet or outlet connection member 32 and an elastically deformable valve carrying a spherical or ellipsoidal face where it contacts the valve seat. Both the face and the seat may carry hard metal inserts. The valve and seats are made of metal. As shown, two opposed valves in the same conduit are interconnected by toggle link work and actuated by two opposed pistons 50 the pressures for which act through a control valve. To prevent leakage of a radio active fluid when the valves are closed, the same fluid, but not radio active and at a higher pressure is passed into the valve casing via valve connection 90. In another embodiment the opposed valves are actuated by pistons in a cylinder between the valves and within the conduit and supplied with pressure fluid via a transverse conduit.
