Abstract

445,704. Valves. TODD, H., 43, Eglantine Avenue, Belfast. Oct. 15, 1934, No. 29511. [Class 135] A valve for high-pressure fluids has a partly spherical reversible valve member 14 of deformable or resilient material such as rubber or rubber composition, and a chamfered seat 11, the valve member being constrained to prevent its free deformation by a socket member 13 and a collar 15 on the valve spindle 8, the latter screwing into the socket member at 17. The valve is normally closed by a spring 5 or fluid pressure acting on the end 7 of the socket member. The spring 5 abuts on a closure plug 4, an apertured extension of which holds the seat ring 11 in place against a shoulder 12. The ring 11 is formed with flanges 11<b> on each side so that it may be reversed. The valve spindle 8 passes out of the valve casing and may be actuated by a cam or lever or may be enlarged as shown at 9 for actuation by fluid pressure. Two such valves having a common inlet may be aligned for alternate actuation by a single lever. Four valve assemblies with two inlets and four outlets may be arranged in aligned pairs for actuation by a cam or lever. A similar arrangement may be actuated by fluid pressure.
