Abstract
487,411. Weft stop-motions for looms. SMITH, R. H., and SHACKLETON, G. W. Dec. 22, 1936, No. 35153. [Class 142 (i)] The centre shed weft fork 12 is lifted by a cam 2 on the main or other shaft 3 and is lowered under the control of the cam 2 by an adjustable torsion spring 18 on the fork pivot 11c. The cam 2 acts through a lever 4 and rod 5 on a lever 6 loose on a shaft 7 mounted on the lay 8 and extending across the loom. The dagger 15 also is loosely mounted on the shaft 7, but has a projecting lug 14a to engage a lever 13 fixed on the shaft by which the dagger is lowered against the action of a spring 14b. Fixed on the shaft 7 also are a forked lever 10 and a lever 9 which is positively moved in one direction by the lever 6 and in the other direction resiliently through the spring 7a. The lever 10 operates the fork 12. When weft is present the lever arm 10b passes through a slot in a projection 11b connected with the fork. When weft is absent the projection 11b and lever arm 10b lock as shown in Fig. 2, with the dagger 15 in the stop position. The spring 7a allows the rod 5 &c. to complete their movement. The parts are arranged so that the loom is stopped before the beat-up.
