Abstract

532,894. Weft-replenishing mechanism. TURNER, R. G. Aug. 9, 1939, No. 22974. Convention date Aug. 18, 1938. [Class 142 (iii)] In a multicolour or other weft replenishing loom, a controller 65 or 66 is moved to operative position on indication of weft exhaustion and remains in this position until the exhausted bobbin is replaced, and is then moved back to normal position by the transferrer 13 or a member connected thereto. The invention is described in connection with looms as shown in Specifications 3271/10, 22996/10, [both in Class 142 (iii)], 500,172, 507,872, 516,950, and 517, 757. The raising and lowering of the two-compartment shuttle box acts through a lever 20 and rod 88 to move a slide 68 along a lever 35 to bring one or other of the controllers 65, 66 into a plane containing a setting lever 74 operated by a weft feeler and the electromagnet 79, a resetter rod 100 or 151 operated from the transferrer 13 through a lever 90, and a dog 60 carried by a constantly oscillating lever 55. On weft exhaustion the magnet 79 lifts the setting lever 74 which moves one controller, say 65, into operative position shown in Fig. 5. The controllers 65, 66 are held in either position by springs 71. The controller 65 can now move the dog 60 under the lug 62 on the lever 35 which will be lifted to raise the transferrer latch 51 into line with the lay bunter 49. Even if the shuttle feeler 53 revokes the transfer and breaks the coupling 40, or if the depleted shuttle has gone out of action, the controller 65 will not be moved by the rod 100 from its indicating position until transfer has taken place. In the modification shown in Fig. 7. the resetting rod 151 is operated by levers &c. 140, 143 from the thread extractor 116 which is operated by the transferrer 12b. U.S.A. Specifications 2,054,174 and 2,054,192 also are referred to.
