Abstract
401,841. Weft feeler arrangements for stopping looms. TYRIE, A., 34, North Street, Forfar. Aug. 30, 1932, No. 24191. [Class 142 (iii).] In jute weaving looms &c. a lever 1, 2, Fig. 1, pivoted on a transverse pin 3 in the shuttle 5 has one arm contacting with the coreless cop 10, whereby the other weighted arm 2 is normally moved into the position shown in full lines in contact with the eye 8 of the usual cover plate 9. On exhaustion of weft, the cop collapses and the arm 2 moves into the position shown in dotted lines so as, at the beat up, to engage a pin 12, Fig. 3, connected to a lever 17. This is thereby rocked and operates the starting handle 13 to stop the loom. To obviate shock the shuttle may be provided with a pad or cushion 14 for the arm 2, and the pin 12 may be connected by a spring bracket 15, 16 to the lever 17.
