Abstract
346,918. Terry looms. SMITH, H., 147, Lowerhouse Lane, Rosegrove, Burnley. Feb. 26, 1930, No. 6424. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (ii).] To convert a calico loom into a terry loom, the stop-rod 6 having the usual reed casing support and duckbills 2 to co-operate with the beaters 4 has an arm 9 furnished with a hooked link 10, which can be engaged, at the beat up by a spring-controlled catch 12 whereby the reed is drawn back against the action of the stop-rod spring 18. The catch 12 is rocked at the required times, so as to release it from the hooked link 10 and thus allow the reed to be held firm at the beat up, by a ligature 14 connected to a lever 15 operated by a cam 17 on a shaft 19 rotated every three picks. The stoprod 6 is furnished with the usual stop-rod finger in line with the usual starting lever whereby the loom is stopped in case of an accident, but the stop-rod 6 is not rotated sufficiently by the parts 9, 10, 12 to move it to stopping position.
