480,034. Pulverulent - fuel burners. SOC. D'EXPLOITATION DES FOURS ET PROCEDES S.A.S. (S.A.R.L.). Nov. 5, 1936, No. 30195. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1935. [Class 75 (i)] The opening through which a mixture of pulverized fuel and air is projected into a furnace or kiln is regulated without change of its peripheral form by screens carried by crossmembers 6 which are pivoted at one end to arms 4 pivotally mounted on a support 1 in the furnace wall and at their other end to a movable ring 8. The ring 8 may be rotated relatively to the support 1 by means of a rod 10 displaced by a hand wheel 11 or a thermostatic device. A gas or liquid fuel burner 13 may be arranged in or around the burner opening to raise the pulverized fuel and air to the ignition temperature. The burner 13 may be dispensed with during the normal operation of the furnace if warm air is available. An electric preheating device may be used in addition to or instead of the burner 13. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 stated that the invention is applicable to ovens fed with gases from a blast furnace or'producer. This statement does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
