Abstract

279,834. Chilowsky, C. Oct. 27, 1926. [Convention date]. Muffle furnaces.-Apparatus for generating oil gas by a process described in Specifiations 183,828, [Class 51 (i), Furnaces and kilns, Combustion apparatus of], 255,423, 271,899, 271,907, [all in Class 55 (ii), Gas manufacture &c.], is combined with a furnace 70, which is supplied through a pipe 15 with the gasefied products from the generator. These are mixed with combustion air from the compressor 69 and burnt after passing through apertures 71, thus heating a muffle 72. Air for the gasefier is heated in a pipe 74 in the path of hot gases leaving the furnace. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a modification in which the gasefier is placed in the furnace hearth or built into the furnace, walls, and the oil heating and steam generating tubes 16. 19 are heated by the furnace combustion products. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
