Abstract
337,721. Metallges. Akt.-Ges. May 2, 1929, [Convention date]. Gas heating furnaces.-Solid fuel is distilled and gasified during its travel through a vertical shaft, the heat being applied by steam or gas which is superheated in zone 6 of a heating apparatus and passes through pipe 14 and apertures 16 to below zone 3 on the fuel shaft. The heater is supplied with refractory bodies which pass downwards from a zone 5 in which they are heated by gases from a burner 20, these hot gases passing through conduits 22, 23 to the fuel preheating zone 1. The heated refractory bodies then deliver their heat to the steam entering by pipe 13, and are returned by elevator 29 to the top of the shaft. A screen 27 is provided for sifting away crushed pieces of the heating bodies, thus maintaining these at a uniform size.
