Abstract
449,739. Foundry ladles &c. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE OBERHAUSEN AKT.- GES., Oberhausen, Rhineland, Germany. Nov. 22, 1935, No. 32465. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1934. [Class 87 (i)] In the drying and firing of the linings of foundry ladles and the like, the heating device is arranged so that it can be rotated about a horizontal axis, so that it may be first used to dry the lining with the ladle in the normal position, and then used to heat the lining with the ladle in the inverted position. The ladle is supported on its trunnions and a cover 2 is secured to it. The cover carries a gas supply pipe 10 delivering to a tube 7 inside which is a concentric tube 6 through which air may be forced bv a blower 4 driven by an electric motor 5. At the end of the tube 6 is a device 8 for imparting a swirling motion to the air. The pipe 10 is connected with the gas supply by a flexible pipe or a coupling capable of axial rotation. When the lining is sufficiently dry, the pipe 10 is disconnected and the ladle swung about its trunnions until it is inverted. The other end of the pipe 10 is then connected to the gas supply and firing proceeded with.
