Abstract
562,384. Rotary furnaces. FOUNDRY EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and BEECH, A. S. Nov. 25, 1942, No. 16706. [Class 51 (ii)] In a rotary drum furnace of the kind comprising a cylindrical body portion with reduced end portions having a refractory lining adapted to be reversed end for end so that it is heated at each end alternately, the end of the furnace which for the time being serves for the discharge of furnace gases is provided with a refractory removable lining bush. The rotary furnace 10, Fig. 1, is provided at the outlet end with a removable bush 42 and at the other end with a burner 36 and wind-box 30 supplied by a fan (not shown). Fig. 3 shows the manner of securing the bush 42 to the outlet end of the furnace. The bush is recessed at 44 to engage with a removable plate 46 and may have a metal liner 52 flared at its outer end 54. The wind-box is provided with a seal consisting of rings 66, 68, Fig. 4, engaging with a ring 64 bolted to the furnace wall. A removable plate 72 supports a tubular air conduit 80. The gases from the furnace pass into a refractory lined flue 41 mounted on wheels.
