Abstract
146,673. August, J. R. C. May 8, 1919. Rotary furnaces.-A close-ended muffle is removabiy mounted in a revoluble casing on longitudinal bearers which form partitions between flues for the passage to and fro of the heating gases, the muffle rotating with the casing. Fig. 1 shows tho arrangement adopted when firing with solid fuel. The gases from the fire at 32 enter the heating- flues 23 in the revoluble portion at 34 and escape at 35. When firing with liquid, gaseous, or pulverulent fuel, a burner is fitted to deliver at the closed end of the revoluble casing as shown in Fig. 4, both the casing and the muffle being of conoidal form at the closed end. The waste gases escape through radial openings 42 into a fixed annular chamber. A feeding-shoot may be arranged to discharge axially into the closed end of the muffle.
