Abstract

477,958. Cooling systems for engines. ANTONELLI, J. July 8, 1936, No. 18955. [Class 29] A cooling system comprising a main radiator 9 and an auxiliary radiator 12 connected in series is provided with a small bore pipe 22 connecting the upper part of the auxiliary radiator with the upper part of the main radiator for the escape of air from the system during filling, to avoid airlocks. The auxiliary radiator may be located between the main radiator and the engine, or the bottom of the main radiator may be connected with the upper part of the auxiliary radiator arranged behind the engine. The auxiliary radiator may be cut out of the system by valves 24, 25, 26 in a byepass pipe 23 and in the connecting pipes 10, 13, operable manually or thermally from a common control 27. Circulation is effected by a pump 14.
