502,074. Engine cooling systems. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Sept. 5, 1938, No. 25949. Convention date, Sept. 6, 1937. [Class 64 (iii)] In a cooling system for an internal-combustion engine only a part of the cooling liquid, e.g. glycol, is circulated through the. radiator. Thus a pump c of relatively large capacity may be em ployed for circulating the liquid through a main circuit including the engine cylinder jackets, while a part of the liquid is drawn through a byepass circuit including a radiator b by a smaller pump d. The flow tc the pump c may also be regulated by a valve f. In a modified system employing a single pump, the flow through the byepass circuit is controlled by a restriction e, Fig. 2.
