Abstract

In a cylinder block with an inserted cylinder lining the outer surface of the lining is formed with a helical groove for guiding liquid coolant from an inlet 8 to an outlet 9, the groove being bounded on the outside by the part of the block which accommodates the lining. The inlet and outlet may open tangentially into the groove. A multi-start groove may have its sections opening into common inlets and outlets.
