Abstract

988,668. Radiators for cooling internal combustion engines. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. March 26, 1964 [April 9, 1963], No. 12814/64. Heading F4S. A cross flow radiator comprises two singlechamber side tanks 20 and 22 with tubes 32 connecting them, the tank 20 having a coolant inlet 24 and the other tank 22 an outlet 26, above which there is a pressure cap 40 and air vent 27. The radiator may be used in conjunction with an internal combustion engine 10 with connections to the radiator from 14 and 16 to 24 and 26 respectively. The outlet tank 22 is of such a size that it permits the air in the coolant to separate before the coolant leaves the radiator via outlet 26. The coolant is circulated round the system by pump 12 of the internal combustion engine.
