475,923. Railway -vehicle undercarriages. ALGRAIN, P. April 20, 1936, No. 31354. Convention date, April 20, 1935. Divided out of 473,848. [Class 103 (vi)] In a railway &c. vehicle of the kind in which the body load is directly taken by pneumatic cushions which are relieved from further load at a predetermined state of compression, the auxiliary supporting means in operation does not decrease the air-borne area of the cushions and is also of a resilient nature so that an elastic vibration-absorbing support is provided under all circumstances. In the construction shown, the load is transmitted through the bolster 5 to the leaf springs 4 by means of links 8 and also directly to the cushions 3 which are compressed between plates 9, 10. Beneath the bolster 5 is disposed a beam 18 provided on its lower surface with a strip of rubber at like material 19 which comes into operation at the limit of compression of the cushions 3. In a modification, Fig. 2, the auxiliary element 22 is in the form of a block surrounding the air cushions 3. Specification 307,154, [Class 103 (vi)], is referred to.
