Abstract

824,100. Springs for railway vehicles. SPENCER, MOULTON & CO. Ltd., G. Feb. 28, 1956, No. 2795/59. Divided out of 824,099. Class 103(6) A bogie bolster 1 supported at each end from the bogie frame 6, 5 by a composite rubber-metal spring 7, 8, 9 as disclosed in Specification 824,099, carries adjacent each end spring, a column 20 of rubber compression pads 21 bonded to metal plates 22, the top of the column 20 being secured to the underframe 13 of the vehicle body carried by the bogie, through a plate 34, and ribs 26, 27. The centre pin 4 on the underframe 13 is connected to the bolster in the manner disclosed in Specification 824,099. The top and bottom plates 22 of the column 20 are secured to plates 24, 25 bolted to the plate 34 and bolster 1 respectively. The plates 24, 25 also have projecting spigots engaging in apertures in the plate 34 and the bolster 1 respectively. To prevent roll, an asbestos pad 33 on the end of the bolster is engageable with a metal plate 32 bonded to a rubber pad 31 mounted on the underframe 13.
