785,459. Rubber compression springs; railway vehicle undercarriages. MOULTON & CO., Ltd., G. S., and SPENCER, J. C. Dec. 14, 1955 [Sept. 14, 1954], No. 26622/54. Classes 103(6) and 108(3) A rubber spring comprises a rubber body 3 having a semi-circular shaped base bonded to a metal plate 1, the outer surface of the body 3 presenting a contour which is radiused on its three main axes so that under load a gradually increasing area is placed under compression. As applied to the stabilizing of the bolster 37 of a rail vehicle bogie under-frame 38, two plates 1 each carrying two bodies 3 are disposed in register with the frame 38 by means of dowels 7. Plates 12, 13 screwed to a tie-rod 15 transmit the load to the bodies 3 from a similar assembly of bodies 3<SP>1</SP> and plates 12<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>1</SP> connecting the other end of the rod 15 to the bolster 37.
