630,294. Bogie mountings. CROMPTON PARKINSON, Ltd. May 13, 1947, No. 12909. Convention date, May 13, 1946. [Class 103 (vi)] [Also in Group XXXI] In a bogie mounting of the type described in Specification 629,913, having spring means that take the place of the normal swing links between the bogie frame and the vehicle king- pin bolster, so as to provide resistance against both vertical and lateral displacements, additional spring means are provided, mounted on a part of the chassis which remains idle during relative vertical movement, that serves to increase the resistance to relative lateral movement. In Fig. 6, the additional spring means comprises auxiliary coil springs 52 mounted so that they press against the edges of the top caps of the composite main springs 46, 47, 51. Lateral movement of the bogie frames 5 relative to the bolster 40 produces compression of springs 52 at one side of the vehicle and allows extension at the other side of the vehicle, thereby effecting an additional centralizing couple on the main springs.
