Abstract
475,149. Cycle brakes. RALEIGH CYCLE CO., Ltd., and RAVEN, W. H. June 17, 1936, No. 16826. [Class 136 (i)] Brake mechanism for cycles comprises a calliper brake of the crossed-lever type having the inner or operated ends of the brake levers coupled to a single link member common to both, which in turn is connected to brake-operating mechanism of the roller-lever type. Two crossed levers a arc pivoted on a common stud b fixed to the fork crown, and carry at their outer ends adjustable and renewable brake blocks, while their other ends each extend beyond the outer edge of the companion lever and are formed with shoulders a<2>, each adapted to act as a stop against such outer edge under the action of one or more take-off springs a<3>. The ends of the levers are pivoted to an arched link e, which in turn is pivoted to a transmission rod f connected to a roller lever on the handlebar.
