[Class 103 (i)] [See also Group XXXI] Brake-operating mechanism for bicycles which gives an increasing mechanical advantage as the brake is applied comprises a substantially semicircular lever 10 pivoted to the fork 13 at 11 and connected by rod 15 to the brakes. A link 16 connected to the hand lever and guidedlongitudinally by a fixed member 21 has a roller 18 bearing upon a cam surface 20 formed on the lever 10, this surface having a part that is substantially normal to the direction of movement of the link during the initial stage of the application and an upwardly inclined part that is engaged at the final stage so that the mechanical advantage increases.
