Brake mechanism.-In means for simultaneously operating the front and rear wheel brakes of a motor-cycle, comprising a lever u pivoted at k to the free end of a link l which turns about a pivot o fixed to the cycle frame, whereby the relative actions of the two brakes are automatically regulated, one of the two transmissions a, b is connected, as by a pivoted fork member c, to the link l, instead of directly to one arm of the lever u. The lever u is operated by means of a treadle i, or by means of a cable connected to a lever or grip on the handle-bar. In the event of breakage of the cable transmission a, the crescent constituted by the arms t, v of the lever u bears against a socket by which the two parallel arms of the link l are mounted on the pivot o, the socket forming a stop to enable the other brake transmission b to be operated.
