Abstract

Back-pedalling brake and free-wheel arrangements.-In a back-pedalling brake of the type in which the brake reaction lever (which prevents the brake sleeve contained in the hub from turning) operates a second brake, the reaction lever 3 is connected to a rim or similar brake 5 not acting on the wheel hub, such brake being applied simultaneously with the brake in the hub. The lever 3 is connected to the brake 5 by a pivoted link 7, which is acted upon by a compression spring 8 abutting at one end against an arm 9 rigidly secured to the frame. The retractive movement of the brake 5 is limited by the engagement of the lower end of the lever 3 with a stop-pin 11 on the arm 9.
