430,406. Coaster hubs. FICHTEL & SACHS AKT.-GES., Schweinfurt, Germany. Feb. 6, 1935, No. 3882. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1934. Addition to 420,550. [Class 136 (ii)] In a coaster hub having means for locking the driver so as to retain the brake in operation without continued back-pedalling, as described in the parent Specification, the driver is locked by means of a ratchet mechanism mounted on the axle at the side of the outer end of the driver. In the form shown, a disc s is screwed on the outer end of the driver a in place of the lock-nut of the chain wheel, and is provided with an internal ring of ratchet teeth s<1>, which are adapted to be engaged by a pawl r, Fig. 2, pivoted at r<1> in a notch in a disc t non-rotatably secured on the bearing cone u. The pawl r is engaged with the teeth s<1>, against the action of a spring v, by means of a lever r<2> and Bowden mechanism. The pawl r is held in engagement with the undercut teeth s<1> by the back pressure of the braking-members, and is released by a slight back-pedalling movement. A dust cover x is provided.
