Abstract

294,567. Detilloux, F. July 26, 1927, [Convention date]. Brake mechanism. - In order to facilitate the mounting of a back-pedalling brake of the type comprising one or more pawls engaging notches in the crank axle, the pawls are carried by a member having pivoted arms adapted to be closed to embrace the axle. A member 3 mounted between shoulders 2a on the crank axle 2 and provided with a spring-pressed pawl 3<k> adapted to engage a notch 2<b> in the axle 2, is formed with two arms 3<a>, 3<b> pivoted together at 3<p> and adapted to be retained around the axle by a pin 3g. The axle 2 is provided with two notches 2b disposed diametrically opposite to one another. A rod 4 carrying a yoke 6 5k and brake blocks 5 passes through a guide member 4<p> connected, with a limited free movement, to the back fork, and is screwed into a yoke 4<k> pivoting about an eyelet member 3<n> screwed into the member 3. The rod 4 is adjustably connected to the yoke 5<k> by means of nuts 4<m>, 4<n>. The brake blocks are retracted by a spring 4r adjustable by means of a nut 4<t>.
