Abstract

240,076. Porter, J. A. March 26, 1925. Spring devices.-Linkmounted spring forks for motor-cycles &c. are provided with a vibration-damper comprising a drum or other cylindrical brake surface mounted to turn with the links, an externallycontracting or internally - expanding brake element coacting therewith, and means for adjusting the braking effect. In the form shown, comprising a compression spring 13 interposed between the lower pair oi links 7 and the steering- head, the lower end of the spring 13 pivotally engages, by means of semi-circular straps 19, 20, a central groove in a drum 17 turning with the links 7 on a spindle 14 carried bv the fork bridgepieces 15, the drum 17 having two symmetricallyarranged braking-surfaces encircled by brake bands, each of which is adjustable by means of a screw-threaded spring-controlled stud 33 accessible to the rider when the cycle is in motion. The mud-guard 23 is fixed to a bracket 22 on the strap 20. The steering-head may be of the kind described in Specification 228,411.
