Abstract

Blocks acting on drums; locking by frictional and positive detents.-Handtrucks of the kind having a single lateral wheel base and grappling means connected by a flexible member to the truck, are provided with means whereby the wheel or wheels are adapted to be restrained from rotation. The restrainment of the wheels is advantageously effected by a one-way clutch such as is described in Specification 210,851. A spring- controlled pawl 14 engages with a ratchet 15 fixed to the wheel 10. The pawl 14 is coupled by a link 17 to a lever 18 pivoted at 19 to the frame 11 and to the lever 18 at 20 a cable is coupled. The cable 21 passes through one of the frame members and is provided with a hand lever 22. A locking member having a head 24 is provided.
