Abstract

985,127. Ratchet clutches. BRAUN A.G. Aug. 9, 1963 [Aug. 10, 1962], No. 31482/63. Heading F2C. [Also in Division B4] Ratchet gearing comprises two ratchet wheels 9, 10 mounted coaxially with a common drive shaft 1 and engageable selectively by pawl means carried by the shaft according as the latter is driven in one or the opposite direction, the pawl means comprising a pivotally mounted pawl member 4 having offset arms 5, 6 engageable with the teeth 7, 8 of the wheels 9, 10 respectively. The teeth 7, 8 have inclined rear flanks 7a, 8b<SP>11</SP> to deflect the pawl means out of engagement with that one of the wheels 9, 10 which is inoperative at any instant.
