Abstract

576,355. Cycle - locks. HIRST, A. Feb. 28, 1944, No. 3620. [Class 79 (iii)] A locking device for cycles comprises a double clip in the form of a spring or casehardened steel wire or rod of double-U shape, one of the U-shaped parts being adapted to embrace a pedal crank 11 and the seat tube 12, while the other part passes between the spokes of the rear wheel and embraces the wheel rim 13. The open mouths of the clip are enclosable by a bar 6 which is hinged to one extremity 3 of the clip, engages by means of a hook 5 and loop 8 with the middle leg 2 of the clip, and is secured to the other extremity of the clip by a padlock 10 which passes through eyes 4, 9 formed for the purpose in the clip and bar.
