445,672. Internal-expanding brakes. DEUTSCHE PERROT-BREMSE GES., Freidrichsfeld, Mannheim, Germany. Aug. 15, 1935, No. 23014. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1934. [Class 103 (i)] An internal brake comprises two shoes 3, 4 arranged to be freely movable parallel with the periphery of the drum between fixed abutments 2, 2a and operated by bell-crank levers 5, 6 which extend towards and overlap one another and are operated by a common lever 7. The point of application 10 of the lever 7 on the levers 5, 6 is so selected that equal applying forces are exerted on the shoes. The lever 7 is pivoted at 8 and engages the levers 5, 6 by means of a tappet 9. The springs 11, 11<a> are stronger than the springs 12, 12a so that they cause the shoes 3, 4 to seat on the abutments 2, 2a respectively, so that these springs tend to move the shoes in the same direction as the normal rotation of the drum.
