Abstract

473,369. Seats; spring mountings. NORMAN & BROWN, Ltd., and NORMAN, H. April 24, 1936, No. 11758. [Class 52 (ii)] In a chair or settee in which the seat and back are pivotally and resiliently supported as a unit in the frame, the pivotal axis 12 is located between the front and rear of the seat 7 and nearer to the front thereof than to the rear, and a number of tension springs 13 are connected between the front of the seat frame 7 and the fixed frame so as to resist depression of the rear part of the seat. The springs are preferably attached to metal plates 14, 15 secured to the seat frame and to the fixed frame, and are hidden by the front members of the frames. The seat may be pivoted in a rod secured to the seat frame and engaging in bearings on the fixed frame.
