Abstract
456,271. Hinges. KATENKAMP, C. J., 18, Pleasant Place, Arlington, New Jersey, U.S.A. April 17, 1936, No. 11048. [Class 65 (ii)] [See also Group XIV] Pivoting adjustments.-A sunbathing or like seat comprises a seat frame with a sliding carriage 3 upon which is adjustably pivoted a back 18. The carriage 3 is formed by two side plates attached to the ends of transverse strips 10, 11. The back members 18 are fitted into recesses formed by lugs 20, 21 on plates 16 pivoted at 17 to the carriage 3 ; a rod 26, slidable in slots 27 in the carriage, engages in one pair of recesses 25 in the plates 16 and sets the inclination of the back. The carriage 3 has also a latch which sets its fore-and-aft position. It consists of a pin 30 with a finger piece on the free end of a spring 31 riveted to the side of the carriage 3 ; the pin 30 engages one of a series of holes 5 in a metal strip 4 bolted to the frame of the seat proper 1.
