Abstract

531,269. Chairs. CHADWICK, E. E., and HOLME, Ltd., E. H. July 5, 1939, No. 19598. [Class 52 (ii)] An armchair has a combined back and seat 5, Fig. 4, hinged at 6 to the front of the base frame and slung between the arms on tension springs 7 attached at their lower ends to the rear part of the back and seat frame and at their upper ends to the rear ends of the arm rests 2. Each tension spring is attached to an arm rest by a hook 8, Fig. 3, formed of a rod bent to U-shape and to form a loop passing through a hole in the arm rest and secured by a pin 9 passing through the loop. The lower end of the tension spring is attached to the rear part of the seat by a hook 11 having a screw threaded shank passing through a hole in a lug 13 attached to the seat frame.
