Abstract

687,612. Seats. resilient suspensions. NEWTH & SONS. Ltd., C., and BRYANT, S. G. Oct. 29, 1951 [Jan. 12, 1951], No. 937/51. Classes 52(i) and 52(ii) A chair, settee &c. is provided with a seat structure which is pivotally mounted at the front and is resiliently supported at the rear from the base frame, the resilient means being located within the seat structure. As shown, the seat structure comprises a seat 17 and back rest 18, the seat being pivoted at 19 to the base frame 10 to a cross-member 14 of which is secured a U-shaped frame 15. The upper ends of tension springs 24 are anchored to this frame 15 and at their lower ends are connected to a plate 22 secured to a transverse member 23 of the back rest and located in a recess 20 of the back rest.
