Abstract
494,763. Seats ; spring upholstery. BURCHMORE, W. E., and REPOSE SEATING CO. (LONDON), Ltd. May 1, 1937, No. 12495. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iv)] In a chair in which the seat and back comprise a single unit secured at its top and lower edges to a frame, the combined seat and back member comprises two superposed curved frame members 3, 9 spaced apart with springs 4 interposed between them, and the under frame 9 has attached at its upper end helical springs 11 connected directly or through laths 12 to the upper bar of the chair frame. The lower frame 9 carries a metallic lace mesh 8 and metal rods 13 which support the springs 4, and the springs in the upper part of the back are supported by the springs 11 and laths 12. In a modification, the frame 3, Fig. 2, carries a metallic mesh 14, and the frame 9 carries metal strips 15 on which the springs 16 are mounted. Other springs are carried by a frame 17 mounted on the tension springs 11 and the laths 12.
